When To Vaccinate Your Puppy or Dog
by The Pet Concierge
All pets should be vaccinated against common diseases, but there is some confusion about how early, how often, and what vaccinations should be given.
Of course, your Veterinarian is your best source of advice and information about this important subject, but here we offer some guidelines to help you get started.
Vaccination Schedule
Puppies can be vaccinated as early as 5 weeks of age.
They should receive boosters again at 9,12 and 15 weeks.
Adults should be given boosters as recommended by your Veterinarian and as required by your locality.
Rabies shots are generally required in most states every 2 to 3 years.
Which Vaccinations
Core Vaccinations are those that are generally accepted as being required by all dogs.
Non Core Vaccinations are additional vaccinations that are recommended based on a number of things including the age, breed, and health of the dog, the potential exposure to an animal that has the disease, and how common the disease is in the geographical area where the pet lives or may visit.
